That is my entire experience on this website for the past several years of lurking.

I typically used the list feature for recs, either making one myself or piggybacking off someone else's (much more of the latter after I was on the site for a few years)



I started paying a lot more attention to users making comments about and/or linking other bands in threads in the last few years after it paid off a few times randomly

I just go through new releases of the main genres l like to see what's been rated highly and checking it out. Have discovered a few bands through that method

I have also gone down the rabbit hole of clicking similar artists (and then clicking similar artists of the similar artists and so on) on favorite bands and found some good stuff through that method, too

YouTube recommendations also helps, plus l sub to various record label channels of bands l like coz they'll usually have a few videos up of some unknown small bands. Pure Noise, Hopeless, UNFD etc

Usually when I go on Youtube I have whatever I want to hear specifically in mind and that's probably because it wasn't on bandcamp. I haven't really gone clicking aimlessly too much on there

I used to have Spotify but it stopped working on my pc and I never figured out what the problem was so I just deleted it and moved on



lol, as silly as it might sound, I am not real big on Google, as hard as it is to be on the internet and avoid them. The only reason I have any Google related accounts right now is because I have an Android phone and I don't remember them giving much of a choice in setting it up
