no problem! halfway through the album I was like “why does this seem so familiar?” and finally realized that it was this. it’s got that feel of the dillinger esc plan and every time I die with their own sound mixed in

Guess I'll give it a listen then, thanks for the rec. I haven't come across an album this year that's blown me away yet.... Just been listening to old stuff mostly

I definitely hear the similarities between those bands but I sort of hated it

The Callous Daoboys album is good, but it doesn't sound much like Empty Black imo.

At times instrumentally I can see the comparison with that band but everything else.. especially any sense of subtlety is like a bad parody.

The reason this album is so good in my opinion and what separates it from any other similar sounding album I've attempted to find is momentum. With every furious release of instrumentation or break down there is equal time spent building that momentum so it feels earned and not just endless chugging. This band is like a rubber band paper airplane, wind it up a little and it releases a little.. wind it up a lot and it will release in kind. It's always perfectly measured and fully earned.

Everything I've listened to that supposedly sounds like this is just chugging and no momentum.

Man this is really good, might bump this to a 4.5. Such a varied release with great vocals and instrumentation + production!

They are on tour with Listener and 68 right now. Touring with Counterparts and Stray from the Path later this year should get them some solid exposure.

I really like his cleans. I think he does a great job with his vocals in general.

While jamming Sufferer I realized they are the closest thing that exists to this band that I've heard.
