lolol didn't mean to be rude MadButcher, sorry...it was because of "then again if i was in this band playing these guitar riffs i wouldn't want anyone to hear them either" take as like a joke, like these guys in the videoclip saying "commoooon dude, don't kill our trip!"

For me, the music sounds very sweet here, in a different manner from what is your guys standarts fs. I guess many would say your fave artists sound like shit and they would be right in their own perspective.

edit: I'd like to add, if you look onto the band's back catalogue, this kind of production was intentional as an artistic feature (and not because they don't know how to do it differently) and adds the desired atmosphere many dig in here (as different in the genre), yes very smooth yet not very organic. It's okay you don't like it, I just get a little triggered when you act superior and twist words around bragging to self call a "nerd" as if you know better, cause we all know at this point what you are talking about. At the end of the day its a matter of perspective and broader the concept of what music is and/or should be...(shit I'm doing this again).

PS: I found the riffs on Ulcerate's SIDBS, tks X)

well at the end of the day i think the production doesn't serve the music well and there are tonnes of prog metal / tech death bands with "clean" production that is better than this. i'm not trying to be mean to you guys but imo this style of very heavily compressed production doesn't really fit with how open and atmospheric the actual compositions are.

also their first album doesn't sound anywhere near this bad, honestly would much rather they went with that kind of sound again. the previous album was very compressed but it was also a lot faster and more technical so i think it worked a little better

Def, my problem is not that the production is clean or smooth, its that the drums are produced in such a way that you could just program them and not know the difference because they didn't retain much in the way of human note to note dynamics. the other issue I have is the way its brickwall limited, because these compositions could breathe a lot more if there was more dynamic range.

both of those features are also implemented in an unusually direct, even for the genre, which is weird considering they used a pretty well known producer and you normally hear that kind of thing from amateurs like me. it just sounds totally at odds with the compositions. apparently this guitarist self describes as someone who's obsessed with tube amps and analogue sounds, and you would never know it from this. on the other hand, the softer sections sound more or less fine, if you can overlook the drums.

anyways I really don't care whether or not anyone hears it the same way and I'm glad you enjoy this, so that's the last I have to say on the subject

I get your point. In my point of view, the mechanical feeling you get from drumming production contradicts the warmer sax sound but... it just works. Idk, it's like Westworld, cold yet sentimental. On the other hand, the bass sounds totally cool. To each their own I guess!

Imagine Westworld with Hopkins being the master of some old puppet bay area boys and the guests being hard metalcorers. I imagine Lars Ulrich being Dolores and Dolores being Kirk Hammett.
