This is a pretty enjoyable ride. Yeah, somehow overproduced but it flows really well, even the soloing fits perfectly. If it sucks, it sax.

it’s not overproduced so much as it’s horribly produced

Plenty of sax metal that year.

I still have no issue with the drums on this.

A gimmick doesn't HAVE to be a gimmick, however.

If a more 'unconventional' instrument is added in a natural manner--it doesn't interfere with the music/sound out of place/distracts in any sort of way--then there are no complaints. The issue here is that the sax is tacked on and sounds jarring amongst the rest of the album. Rarely is there interplay with it and it usually goes off on its own in a "look at this!" kind of action. It interrupts whatever substance is here, which I find is already little to begin with.

Bands have been tossing in saxophones for a while now, so it certainly doesn't have to be a bad thing or come across as something added just for the sake of it.

I wouldn't say that. The bass sound for example is very good.

Yeah, generally speaking, Marskid is right. I just don't think that happens in this.

it's more that when both the drums and the guitars are rolling along every kick audibly sucks away half the volume of each note the guitar plays. like idk why it's necessary for them to have such an overcompressed and inorganic sound for an album that is relying so heavily on sounding clear and open on so many parts.

then again if i was in this band playing these guitar riffs i wouldn't want anyone to hear them either

Honestly they seem to enjoy what they do without taking themselves too serious, if Madbutcher3 were in the band would kill the vibe fs XD
