OK, yeah that definitely counts as close... (Kettering area, lived in Rothwell for many years). My brother currently lives in Northampton as it happens.
I moved up north a decade ago and don't regret it one bit.

Glad you're enjoying the north. You have the advantage of living in an area of England actually acknowledged to exist. So many people dismiss the midlands as really the south or really the north, depending on where they come from lol.

As a kid who grew up in London the Midlands was the North to me, then when I moved there no-one identified as 'Northern'. Now that I actually live in the North, the Midlands are part of 'the South' haha. I totally get what you mean.
