Oh I'm a huge fan of both Sigur Ros and GY!BE. () is probably the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. But I haven't heard Laughing Stock; I'll have to check it out. And I've heard great things about Rachel's.

Final track is the only track I listen to really, rest of the album is run-of-the-mill post-rock.

I'm suprised how many people think EitS are mediocre.

Sometimes I wonder how they're getting away with making it simple & repetitive, but hell, it just works!

Trouble with post-rock is that for a huge part the first band you get into holds more value than most others. Since too much of the genre relies on the same fallback techniques it's easy to see why that's the case. These were the first formulaic post-rock band I listened to and I've never been able to tell whether I would have enjoyed this record (and still do so) as much if I'd heard something similar previously. I think a lot of the people that label this average were introduced to the genre elsewhere and thinks this offers nothing particularly innovative or new.

The fact is, though, that it's fucking awesome... every melody is breathtaking and every passage is important. So either way this absolutely rules face.

I guess that makes sense. This band and Russian Circles got me into post-rock so I have a soft spot for both of them.
