Each part of Birdless Cage feels so significant. Also, is there any way to check the bonus tracks? I would buy them if I knew where to find them.

I'm glad we have the same favorites. All of them could be my #1 on the album depending on my mood

I don't believe there's a way to selectively purchase or stream the bonus tracks, but fwiw Freddie shoutboxed some people the link to the expanded version which has them, myself included. It's still there on my profile if you wanna bite the bullet

all 3 were pretty good, I wouldn't say any of them needed to be on the album though. Thurisaz was probably my favorite, the last part of Born Blind was amazing, and Amaterasu seems like it would work really well where it is in context with the album so I'll have to give the whole thing a full listen soon.

Yeah, none of the bonus tracks are highlights for me but none of them are among the worst material here either imo. Amaterasu is probably my fave of the three (and placed extremely well in the album), Born Blind is solid all-around, and Thurisaz was initially a fave of mine, but it's grown off me a bit. Kinda disrupts the mood of the album where it's placed between Sundials and Birdless Cage

As great as the bonus material is, I'm beginning to understand more why they chose the 10 that they did. They didn't have to narrow the album down, but if they were going to, those 10 have a pretty distinct and recognizable personality compared at least to Thurisaz and Born Blind. Amaterasu probably should have been on there no matter what though.

Amaterasu is their absolute best song I've been and will continue saying

Disagree but I respect that choice.

I like that this is one of those bands where we all probably have a different #1 fave song and that's totally valid.

got around to a bit of Varuna last night. Monologues and Sea Smoke were really good. I'll get to the rest soon but I much prefer the overall sound of Shrine.

I gave No Matter and Varuna a cursory listen after this started to get hype and nothing on there grabbed me as much as The Canyon does here

Can I hear those b-sides anywhere? Or just if I buy the physical?

I think the verses of "Northern Orthodox" sound the most BN-ish here
