I think that's a fair comment but there are moments where the guitar is given the spotlight, like the introduction to Alma Mater. For me those moments really stood out as weak and generic sounding. My mind drifted to how much more powerful the song would be as a whole with someone like Ben Weinman performing, before the atmospheric elements took over and ran to finish the otherwise excellent track.

...we will never know what sleepy blur of autocorrected letters led to that (and it shall be for the best)

Get where you're coming from and would possible concede if it weren't for how much dynamite the guitar performance brings in Grievances. I'd love to see elements of that writing style return alongside more expansive writing for whatever they do next - this would have benefited from more explosive, darker counterpoint tracks in the vein of Rituals and Alma Mater (both do a fair job, but there's nothing quite as fierce as Estranged or Funereal here)

^ sweet dig (hey why isn't it showing mine, do I need to use more characters, let's test this out)...
Nope, what about this?
Damn this really doesn't want to work.
I agree about the fact this album isn't particularly riff focused but I'm absolutely fine with that, it has enough else going for it and not everything needs to be riff-centric.

There s barely any doom there. Its a relentless piece of filth end to end...like an addictive mosquito buzz. Sorry about that if it causes any discomfort... X)

I just scrolled down the side and thought "that seems logical" - or maybe I have autism or something. Wanted to get myself checked for that for a long time

Still owns. New band of Billy Rymer (ex Dillinger Escape Plan). Just checked your 2019 ratings to see if you rated it and stumbled upon Ithaca. Totally forgot that. Was on my list. Thanks for passively reminding me!

Coming to think about it, Ithaca does have a few (not much) similarities to Rolo Tomassi. At least that's what I thought on the quick first listen I did a few days ago.
