I kind of like some parts on this album. I mean, the clean solo on the t/t is alright

I like the album overall. Otherwise, I wouldn't have given it a 3. It's just a good not quite great album imo. My only real complaints are
1) That the title track is way too long and not the masterpiece I remember it being.
2) Battery is also a weak opener but alright song.
3) The only track I don't like at least a little is Leper Messiah.

Yeah, Hetfield has to mention insanity and/or the military in every song. Melodies are homogenous too. Lame lyrics and unimaginative vocal melodies are common in thrash, but I do think that Metallica is the worst offender sometimes.
