I really enjoyed Pleasant Living.

I pre-ordered a shirt when Celebrate dropped and it never came in the mail. It was a pain hunting down a refund for it. I never listened to that album because of it, lol.

I popped on the first track of this new album for about 30s. It felt whiny to me, but I'm sure it would grow on me if I got into the right mindset. I've been too satisfied with myself to listen to anything remotely Emo lately.

Haha, I thought I liked it on first few listens, but after the sixth or so I realised I couldn't recall a single memorable moment so I started listening more closely to the lyrics. (I appreciate why people might like this, it's just not for me.)

Not heard their other stuff, but to me this just sounds like a band trying their absolute hardest to make an emo album. They ticked as many boxes as they could, littered it with passionate-sounding vocals, crammed together as many emo-sounding lyrical phrases as they could, and squeezed in an arbitrary noodly guitar part wherever there was a spare measure. If a deep-learning algorithm trained itself on all of the emo and emo revival music out there, and developed a model, this is exactly what the AI would spit out.

But at least it nailed the sound it was going for.

To me, it doesn't sound honest at all. I don't buy that these guys have any deep emotions they're drawing from, it's like they just studied and learned techniques for "how to make an emo album". I could be completely wrong and this might be totally genuine, but that's not what I got from listening to it. I don't feel like the parts with the passionate/screamed vocals are "earned" in any way, they're just placed in there among the arbitrary "emo 101" lyrics.

God this band is overrated, don't get me wrong, this isn't bad by any stretch but it definitely isn't 4.5 material, like Blush mentioned, there isn't a standout moment, it's all very similar throughout.
