Put the vinyl on and sat down. Had to get up to turn it down. Loud.

I hope they’ll rerelease this in a couple of years with better production, such a shame

Not too keen on the first track but the next two I enjoyed. Hoping to jam the rest this evening.

one thing that bugs me is that there are some melodies on here that are very similar to some on OMD
for example, Silvertine is very close to Caradhras and the t/t sounds almost like Earthshine in parts. hard to shake

"Silvertine is very close to Caradhras and the t/t sounds almost like Earthshine in parts. hard to shake"
true, but I like every song on here more than those on OMD for some reason.

i don't think it's just the production at fault - many of these tracks just aren't rewardingly written and just meander, in songs like silvertine sounds like they're adding elements for the sake of changing pace rather than actually building towards something or songwriting meaningfully
tar-calion, herumor and mirklands are the tracks i come back to but otherwise i'm so let down by this album
t/t is a big letdown for me too, not only is it the worst in terms of the production ruining it but the vocals just don't sound right and it sounds far too similar to 'earthshine' to the point where it feels like it's going for exactly the same goals
also the volume changing between tracks is fucking annoying

the production's not that bad but it's not remotely immersive. the album mostly drifts by with some interesting melodies and rhythms here and there but...yeah, no real goal. I'm a little disappointed. just got into Summoning and was hoping for something to solidify that.
between the clipping, erratic volume, and general apathy in songwriting, this has the feeling of something sorta pushed out the door.

I take it on small dosis, a track here and there and I can more or less put up with the sound.

I'm a bit surprised by the negative reception on here. To me, this ticks all the boxes I have come to expect from a Summoning album. Their winning formula remains untouched and is executed with the same stoicism like on every album past LMHSYF.
Tar-Calion is super skipworthy though.
