Deftones rightfully could have been called that on Adrenaline and Around The Fur. GJ have really never sounded like Deftones other than the occasional vocal influence from Chino and having groovy / heavy rock songs. Both bands owe a heavy debt to Faith No More and Mike Patton really

"Dude, this! After I checked out Mind Over Matter I could definitely see what the band was doing here. I’m surprised that after all these years Glassjaw still want to make aggressive records considering that when they play old songs they seem a bit more mellowed out"

Automanipulation is a classic record that everyone should listen to, it straight slaps. I consider this record a stylistic successor in a lot of ways with the beefy raw production, dissonance and immediacy of the songs.

Hey Uncle. Our Color Green (The Singles) goes full on Deftones imo. But I get it, the constant comparison is indeed a little tiring XD

Back to School, Seven Words, Head Up and Shove It are prob the only nu tracks imo...even so...they re both very distinctive bands, its not like we are listening to Taproot and P.O.D. forever.

I'll admit the "We will bash her / I will catch her" line in Stars sounds like it's copied pasted from Adrenaline.

@strizmatik

I was just memeing my man lol, Glassjaw have vague nu metal inclinations I think off of Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence in the overall mood of the album but they're undoubtedly much more a blend of post hardcore and on a lighter level alt metal

Taproot had a single in 2020 called "Day by Day" that I thought was pretty decent, like perhaps written just post-Gift.

It also sounds like every song ever written by Taproot.
