i hate to be the one yet again, but why is it that whenever we're discussing a female artist the discussion always centers around sex and how hot you find them. do you guys not think of anything else?

except i will happily be the one. this website's userbase is really, really sexist. it is literally irrelevant to the music and yet its a complete constant
also good review, i think its pretty harsh but if you really feel that way you do you. for me i'd say it's a pretty average album, nothing too bad

@Asdfp277, give them a break it's not like artists like Gaga or Taylor don't parade the stage like they don't want them to be seen as hot material.

should the rolling stones primarily be discussed for their sex appeal? how about 50 cent? the beach boys? the beatles? michael jackson? because they're not. but they should be, if your argument isn't sexist.
is it because these artists you're talking about (taylor swift, lady gaga) wear revealing clothing? is that reason to be discussed, ranked and rated constantly in a sexual way? i don't think so. to me that sounds a lot like the "they were asking for it" (read: "you reap what you sow") logic people use. if you can't see the problem with that, i'm not going to reach you so you can just stop reading whenever.
on a website that is for discussing *music,* we should be discussing *music.* and yet, when female artists are the ones making it, we talk about their looks so much. there's clearly a double standard here.
here's some quotes from soundoffs for female artists:
"Still a lil hottie in my book. Don't care what she sounds like at this point in her career, i just love to look at that fine lil ass of her's..."
"THAT ALBUM COVER... bonerific."
i've never, ever seen anything like this for male artists on here. and they do just as much "parading of the stage"
it's not them, it's you [2]

lady gaga fully wore a dress made out of raw meat and people still blame her for not being able to see her as more than a sexual object

no one calls Mariah fat or Tina Turner old too. Cuz for them their talent is first, sex appeal is second. Can't say the same for most girls, So I don't see how abnormal it is for their audience to view it as their selling point. What matters for them.

"'I've never, ever seen anything like this for male artists on here. and they do just as much "parading of the stage"'
sure does, since the dawn of Elvis Presley's career , not to mention the rabid fan girls and Boybands. I vividly remember the Ricky martin craze. looks/sex appeal has always been "the factor" for mainstream audiences.

"no one calls Mariah fat or Tina Turner old"
they do
"for them their talent is first, sex appeal is second. Can't say the same for most girls"
do you really believe this?
"sure does, since the dawn of Elvis Presley's career , not to mention the rabid fan girls and Boybands. I vividly remember the Ricky martin craze. looks/sex appeal has always been "the factor" for mainstream audiences."
it definitely happens to men too, when their selling point is sex appeal. but what about lady gaga, whose selling point was never sex appeal?
the sexual discussions don't occur just to women whose sex appeal is their selling point -- it happens to every woman. laura stevenson, björk, angela gossow, lauren mayberry, jenny hval, julien baker, amy lee, you name it
and none of this excuses you from being a meathead who only see women as sex objects

^ To say Lady Gaga didn't use sex appeal as a selling point is complete bs. You've got a point on the double standard, however with artists like Taylor Swift and Gaga the sex appeal and imagery definitely take the forefront. Music a close second.
