Toad the ravens comment was mine and just like Lean I used the line to evoke a conceptual idea (vaguely reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe, he samples ravens in the song...) but I agree that by only quoting a single line it kinda seems like I'm breezing by shit. but block quotes are no fun tbh, I find myself skipping over the quote when reading reviews and just getting the jist from whatever the author thinks it means. preferences, idk

The double slash? MLA RIP
And yeah Con get yo easy breezy ass outta here ahaha, I just wanted some more in depth digs bc to me this record isn't markedly different lyrics-wise from past projects. Lean has never been Mr. Clear & Straightforward but Leans attitude towards his lifestyle and himself, just off the basis of the lyrics of this record, doesn't seem to have changed while the main argument of the review seems to be that they have

a lot of the shit Lean says on here is implicit, aka he's showing more of his psyche based off of shit ppl know about his life (mental breakdown in Miami, etc.). so a lot of the stuff we are taking from this album may or may not have been intentional ~meanings~ Lean is trying to portray. I agree it's not crazy good in the lyric department (altho that Agony line is fucking brilliant), it's moreso the combo of that stuff with his change in sound and mindset, which is really the crux of our review I would say.

definitely feel like the middle of the record is the weak spot - muddy sea through skimask and agony + yellowman are the high points
