I think the second half of this album is a lot stronger than the first. I might end up lowering my rating for this though because it has a few stinkers.

Now don't get me wrong, she's got a nice voice and some neat tunes, but I've heard many a thing about this album in particular.

Depends. But probably not.

I mean I am an Ariana Grande fan so I guess I'll give this a look for curiosity sake.

Initial thoughts (I already heard the singles): the departure from her previous style is a bold choice. She herself sounds really good, and I can see her continuing this musical direction. She's always had a highly marketable voice, and this is no exception in that regard. I think the album starts off pretty well, but it drags towards the end. The production is rather bland, and while the departure as mentioned before is a bold choice, she doesn't do enough with it to stand out or be interesting; she's basically another generic pop singer. I didn't expect much coming into this and didn't get much out of it as a result. Yes I'm primarily a metalhead, but I give all kinds of music a chance based on their merits and purpose, and I just didn't buy this completely. Maybe her next one will be better.
Disclaimer: I did finish this album all the way to judge it.

As long as she makes better music, that's okay.

I actually kinda like that album. Have to revisit Taylor thoroughly though.
