This is their most "pretty" sounding album yet, though Peripety is still an atmospheric and brutal album

"I heard a bit of Deafheaven in the first track too!" Damn! Didn't think about that, it's true!

@Piri tx man!

@Noctus @trilogique The production in this one is def. better than in Peripety but like Noctus said this is compressed and maximized to the point of no return. It did bother me at first, but got used to it after a couple of spins.

When I first heard it I put it on repeat for the rest of the day and started writing down. Lots of nice moments here and there. It would be higher than a 4 if it wasn't for the production issues we commented above.

I understand you would rest points for production Wicker but a 1 seems excessive

Clegane, this is their uncle Kardashev's Christmas hits comp, you'll dig it

The Flesh Prevails is my worst-of-all-time to compare to, so this is very listenable in my books. You're not wrong about it being brickwalled though. But for some reason it doesn't bug me so much on this record.

Um you know Hawks, this bites way more than the two recs I put but I couldn't think of anything else when I wrote the review. The clean parts reminded me a bit to old Tesseract, I can tell you that, but you should give it a shot.

Yeah I thought this was post-metal or some shit. I'll give this a shot after all

I like the music, but the mastering is god awful. I guess they were going for a Heavy Devy type vibe? It sounds alright through my speakers, but I can imagine it being quite painful through headphones.

What u think bloc?

There are some post-metal tendencies mixed in there, but it is more along the line of deathcore-flavored death metal with an uplifting sheen to it and some pretty atmospheric moments.

Yeah Blind, mastering is iffy here. I don't dislike it as much as a lot of people seem to, but I do sense a sort of wall of sound approach that's almost brickwalled.
