It's average radio metal, definitely not worthy of the hyperbolic 1's and 5's

We have to exist to bring balance to this world.

well those hyperbolic ratings seem to place this thing smack in the middle of the scale anyhow. I'm with you on your assessment CaribbeanSaviour.

^ this.
I listened through this a few times and then put "Pull Harder on the..." on. The latter had so much more energy and intensity.

This album, and Trivium itself, is like light beer... It's not your first choice but it'll do in a pinch.

I'd say they're like a Racer 5 IPA. Pretty drinkable, even delicious at times, but there's definitely better stuff out there.

I can definitely dig that analogy.

the sin: being awful
the sentence: shitposting

this guy just doesn't have the voice to carry off these types of hook and groove driven songs. would be a better album with a better vocalist but even then its very much by the numbers

No vocalist is going to appeal to everyone, granted Heafy probably appeals to fewer than most. Hopefully it's clear why some people like it though other than by trivializing it to bad taste.

Trivium is like one of those bands where youre like "this is pretty good, but theres a lot better things out there", similarly A7X, Disturbed etc.

Trivium is one of those bands where you generally have to be in the mood for it. You know some songs that you enjoy and you have to think "yeah I want to listen to that" but on a shuffle through all your music you'd probably skip it.
I think this album is better than that though.

yea I guess you do need a lot of excuses for liking this shit

Heafy’s clean vocals are hugely unnecessary tbh, so overblown.
The drummer definitely puts this above recent Trivium albums tho, dude goes ham.

tough guys trash Trivium

I agree, his cleans are really theatrical and over the top sounding now. I really liked how they sounded in the early days though
