Same reason pretty much most of the other former members left: almost 24/7 touring. Shannon got burnt out and wanted to do his own thing while laying down some roots back home. The guy still destroys the kit on the Serpentine Dominion album that came out a couple years back.

Idk why they do it, they have a big enough following where they dont need to tour constantly to stay afloat financially. Working on that retirement fund, i guess. Or maybe the two founding members left enjoy the lifestyle.

Nocturnal is one of the best dm albums ever made. I love all of their stuff but this is def my fav since Nocturnal.

Ritual was ok, Everblack didnt do much for me. I thought i was done being interested in new albums, but then i liked Abysmal and this. So idk, i keep thinking im going to get tired of the same old shtick but we'll see.

I didn't really like Everblack or Abysmal but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I also feel like this is their best since Nocturnal though. The bonus track cover of At the Gates' Swarm they did for this is incredible as well
