They don't even fit the music. It's like he was in the studio recording for another band and they mixed his vocals in on accident.

I don't know why but this part right here really gets me. Almost cried at work today, fuck.
"All calls are answered
It's no bother, I just wanted to talk
To the direct marketer from Bangalore or was it Mahabalipuram?
He tried to sell me on a credit card
I asked about the weather and whether his life was hard"

I think my biggest problem with post-punk is that it feels like the bands just sound so constantly pleased with themselves. It's like they're interested in sounding "cool" than crafting captivating music or even just having fun
This is pretty damn good tho

Maybe it's just modern post-punk. Classic post-punk was revolutionary and new, a lot of more modern stuff feels like it's straining to fit within those confines even though it's about creative freedom. I think this did a good job of still being post-punk while playing a bit outside the lines though

I dont like post punk or groups like the national...and not a fan of this band...but they pull out something incredible here...i just wish more people notice that
|
| |
The National is a borderline Post-Punk band. They are Post-Punk at the very core formality level. Make no mistake of it, The National is a gloomy Indie Rock.
