Yeah, Sowing, it's definitely a debut album, but in the best way.

Circa Survive could also rename themselves into "band that puts out pure grower albums"

Better than BSN for me, which was definitely their best/most cohesive work to date.. On Letting Go is my personal favorite but this will challenge it I think

Wish I liked this band more; I sadly am in a realm where I feel they're a bit overrated *winces*

What really issss "overrated"? If you like something, you like it. If you hate it, you hate it. I just feel too many people rely on what others say, what reviews say, what critics say, what online music forums say, what their friends say, what everyone elses opinion but their own say, etc etc. All that time you spent taking peoples word could have been spent soaking the actual music/art up and forming your own judgments.

"Now onto Juturna. Listen to that shit 1,000 times in a row, Sowing. And be patient for the bonus track cause it's well worth it."
I'm pretty sure I edited that last track, and separated it as the actual closer. Gotta love that album. My favorites are definitely Juturna and OLG, but then again I listened to those records when they were released. There's something about those songs, the ambiance and Anthony's voice that are quite unique there.
When BSN was released I was probably one of the few who wasn't happy about the direction they took. Sure it was a more immediate record but it lacks... that "depth" I guess from the earlier material. I'm glad they didn't continue the BSN sound and I thought Descensus was a step in the right direction. I'm really looking forward to this to grow on me the same way the debut or the sophomore albums did.

I really think that Juturna has the biggest impact when it's the first Circa you hear, like, nothing has compared to it at all, and that's just in my opinion. OLG and BSN were both growers for me, but Juturna had me hooked from the first chord of "Holding Someone's Hair Back", and I was just more and more blown away as each track progressed. It's rare that you find an album that you tune everything around you out, and just immerse yourself. I could go on and on all day about it, end of the day, I'm just a Juturna fanboy.

BSN is painfully overrated and their worst by far, still good tho.
But man this is up there with their best wow.

The more I listen to this, the more I feel like it might actually be better than BSN. It just feels more consistent, and the best moments are frequent and about on-par with anything on BSN.

Yeah I mean BSN has more going on experimentally but this is way more cohesive

@coldheaven - I totally feel ya. I usually hate comments like the one I made, hence my wince lol. I have tried and occasionally succeeded with CS, and absolutely loved his contributions to The Sound of Animals Fighting back in the day; but let's not lose sight of why we have these opinion sites either, I understandably added to the muck that is musical subjectiveness but I was looking for someone to guide my listening further because this band I can't connect with is often associated with bands I deeply connect with.

The opening guitar line on "Never Tell A Soul" has a similar vibe to the opening of "In The Morning And Amazing...". Pretty cool. Still playing this album every day.
