Amulet >= BSN > Descensus > Violent Waves > OLG > Juturna

this is def the most consistent band i listen to, all of these are incredible

juturna is quite easily my fav, then bsn, olg, descensus, this, and violent waves, but i need to revisit descensus and violent waves before i really commit to that. neither are too fresh in my mind altho i used to be big on descensus when i got into these guys

edit: just went through the discog again. juturna > bsn > descensus > olg > this > violent waves

Premonition of the Hex is sooooo good. I get that bass line stuck in my head constantly.

In no universe is descensus even close to this. If someone wants to like their earlier stuff more than the newer that’s fine but this murders that record

i honestly might drop this below violent waves after revisiting as there's a lot of more interesting stuff going on there that I hadn't picked up on. definitely my least listened to circa but I found it more rewarding than this when i ran through everything a week ago, which part of that is my favorite song here is one of the bonus tracks (indra's net is incredible and one of my favorite circa songs) but only flesh and bone really comes close to that on the actual album

descnesus rules tho kinda drops off after nesting dolls but that middle combo of that + only the sun is one of the best stretches of circa ever

I feel like the production alone on this puts it above Descensus and I'm not one to typically hang up on production. This just is immaculate in the best way, the guitars sound incredible and create quite the experience for me.

I think everyone's CS album ranking tends to change periodically. They're just one of those bands that churns out great album after great album. I think at this point, mine would go:

Juturna>Blue Sky Noise>The Amulet>Violent Waves>On Letting Go>The Appendage>Descensus

For me, top 3 and bottom 3 stay the same except the order

I am never sure whether I like Juturna or Blue Sky Noise or Descensus more

I don't see them ever topping Juturna. It's just fucking gorgeous the whole way through.

Yeah, I've pretty much given up on that

Their early era is their best, no contest

bsn was my top for years but juturna has recently completely overtaken it. ridiculously immersive album. bsn also kinda loses points for consistency but theres a 5 out there if you made a best of that+appendage tracklist

idk how anyone can't think this is their best album at this point. it just feels so established in every possible sense and flows together so well. this is their best definition of a full album front to back and i love every moment.

might be a 5 tbh

I listened to OLG along with Juturna for the first time many moons ago in the beach during sunset. I was going through a break up I think but I have very fond memories of that trip. And even to this day, nostalgia aside, there's a certain atmosphere of those albums that they haven't been able to replicate since. The only other band that has given me those vibes was HRVRD who also used Brian McTernan as a producer for both of their albums.

i guess i really just have no strong nostalgia for the early era considering I got into to them via songs on BSN first.

they're still great, Juturna is definitely a trip and OLG def hits hard but idk, BSN is just hookier/lusher /more interesting OLG to me and The Amulet might just be the culmination of everything they've been aiming to do. i can hear aspects of especially the previous 2 but def Juturna as well
