The energy in Descensus is something I very much appreciate, but also enjoy the ambience of Amulet a lot, so it's tough for me to decide which I prefer

Just got tickets to go see these dudes in May haha. Planning a little ahead.
Any idea when new music will be coming? It feels like it should sometime (early-ish?) next year.

Weakest part of this is Anthony for me. Instrumentally it's great but barely any memorable melodies or lines from him. It all comes together in Premonition of the Hex, hopefully they'll go in that direction.

Damn, I feel completely opposite about the vocals here, I think he crushed it

Yeah I really like the more reserved vocal approach here, going for something a bit moodier. I think it plays well with the instrumentation.
Though yeah, I'll agree that it does all come together in "Premonition of the Hex." Title track owns, too. I honestly like every song on here.
This is probably my favorite of theirs.

It's one of my favorites from them for sure. Premonition of the Hex is one of the best songs they've ever written.

took me way too long to dig this album from their discog. it initially sounded like a bunch of samey songs but once i dug in WOW was i impressed. bumped from 3 to 4

Love when that happens. It's been months since I've listened to these guys so I should give this album some more listens. I thought Blue Sky Noise was too samey the first few times I listened and now it's an all-time fave for me.
|
| |
uh oh I've opened pandora's box and need to do another discog run
every time I come back to these guys I like them a little more, still, a decade later

yeah i think this is anthony's strongest performance. so many memorable and interesting vocal melodies on here, a big reason i love this so much. also premonition of the hex is one of their best ever, the rhythm section on that song and the vocals are just insane.

I am getting obsessed with this album pretty late. It did not sit well with me right when it came out, but I can totally hear how much more matured their sound is in this album. I don't think they've had an album this balanced start to finish since 'On Letting Go'. And it would seem that they're due for another pretty soon so start the hype.

I was just thinking about that my dude. They're doing the 10 year tour for Blue Sky Noise and Appendage and that wraps up in the beginning of summer. So I would imagine any new songs/album wouldn't come until the end of the year.

Oh yeah, I want to see that Blue Sky Noise show. I think they are doing the same thing at the fest I'm playing in spring though.
