Listening to the instrumental version of this. So pretty.

This is decent. Sometimes feels a little over-epic in a cheesy way but mostly very lush. Prefer the instrumental version though.

To me, the vocals sometimes come across as a bit forced in their emotion. It contributes to the sense I have that this album risks being over-epic in a cheesy way. Removing the vocals lessens that sense.

I dig them too, they are like Tenhi, you either like that low droning Finnish or you don't I suppose

I love the vocals specifically because I don't feel any cheese here, so that's interesting. I'd almost be able to field that complaint with the theatrical and massive nature of Sorni Nai, but not here. On this, they are very subdued, rarely spotlighted, and the production perfectly complements that beautiful enunciation.

Would love it to drop any time soon. They've become a favorite of mine. Curious what direction they will take, but expect excellence regardless.

From Kauan's social media:

"The day has come, it's time to reveal the name, cover art and release date for KAUAN's new record! The new album entitled "Ice Fleet" is going to be released on April 9th, 2021. The album comprises a 43 minute long opus dedicated to the terrific story from the 1930's northern shore of the USSR where a flotilla of frozen ships were suddenly found by geologists. The story is based on real letters, articles and events. The album is separated into seven narrative chapters carefully described with an included libretto.

Together with the album, we wrote a 40 page tabletop RPG adventure to interact with the story. It will be available in print together with limited LP and CD versions of the album — more on this early next year.

Happy holidays. Stay warm."

Colour me very interested. It's happening folks!

Also... " we wrote a 40 page tabletop RPG adventure to interact with the story" ... How awesome is that?

I like how they take these mysterious tragedies and use them to create concept albums. I can’t find any history of a “frozen fleet” being discovered, though.
