Yikes.

Woah, this is the most impressed I have been with an album/band on first listen for a long time.

Yeah I know. Ah well. At least I know that before getting too attached.

Still mad about them breaking up. Can anybody recommend me a band or album that's going in the same direction like this gem?

I can't think of any bands that sound much like Arcane Roots off the top of my head, but I think the new Hopesfall shares some sonic elements in common, albeit more aggressive and a bit less spacey

They started to sound a lot like Dead Letter Circus towards the end (if you haven't checked those guys out yet). Not exactly, but still that massive, anthemic feel. Their first LP (This the Warning) or Catalyst Fire would be great places to start.

^As someone who used to jam This is the Warning a ton, I definitely agree with that

@Eclipse Black Peaks are definetely similar in a sense, though they are much more comparable to older Arcane Roots (think their debut or Heaven & Earth). Not quite as sensitive, but much more abrasive.
They have a great deal of common fans, and i think Black Peaks is the first band recommended to you on Spotify when looking for similar artists there.

Thank you all very much! Haven't heard of or listened to Dead Letter Circus in ages! Need to check em out more carefully. Also Hopesfall, but I really liked that spacey vibe of Arcane Roots (especially on this album). I've known Black Peaks way before I got into Arcane Roots cuz they were supporting SOAD. Anyway, I think Black Peaks are a little to repetitive and they don't have this patience in building up a song slowly that I so admire on Meloncholia Hymns. Black Peaks are more...sudden? Does that make sense?

On most of their songs, you could say that. They have some awesome, more "brooding" tracks on their newest one though. And trust me, it doesn't have a 4 (almost 4.1) avg for no reason

But yeah it truely is a shame. Watched the music video for Curtains yesterday and i had goosebumps all over me at one point. Truely a cinematic song

Seems like I need to get my lazy ass up and finally listen to that new Black Peaks record. My pile of shame is growing ever so big

just tasted the new VOLA. Has some similar vibes
|
| |
^I can see that. VOLA is easily more immediate than this, yet they both have that sort of "in the clouds" blissfulness to 'em. More-so this one though.

"VOLA is easily more immediate than this, yet they both have that sort of "in the clouds" blissfulness to 'em. More-so this one though." - there's nothing to add

Explains why I like new vola a good deal, I'm a sucker for this vibe. Idk if I'm looking in the wrong places or if I'm an idiot but it seems difficult to find quality stuff with the same sound
