It really doesn't feel too long, especially given their history. Tracks 9 and 10 are bonus tracks, in case that's the version you heard.

--I wish I could explain to you guys how much I still love this band after so many years.--

I think everybody knows, Hawks.

--Never really gave this band much time but I wanna give them a chance with this. I've heard the vocals before and they're high af sometimes--

They're not nearly as high as they used to be.

--Didn't like this as much as Hammer Of Witches tbh. Album feels way too long--

Hammer is much more 'instant' than this one. There's a lot more going on here and the songs themselves are more dense with things going on. It took me about 5 or 6 listens before it really started growing on me.

I'd say this is definitely more accomplished than Hammer, probably not as instant and enjoyable tho like you said.

Who else agrees Death and the Maiden has one of the best CoF riffs of all time?

That solo in Wester is just jaw dropping, so much emotion behind it.

Amazing album. Agreed hard on "Western Vespertine" the end of that song is mind-blowingly good.

Also, the solos on this album are ridiculous. They have such a fluid, smooth tone, ughhhhh sooo goooooood.

I said this wasn’t as instantly enjoyable, but it’s definitely as enjoyable (if not more) after a handful of listens. You just have to keep coming back to it.

Yeah, the solos on this album are hands-down CoF’s best.

Even after a few listens most tracks catch me off guard with their brilliant musical segways.

Great to see a band late in their career experimenting this much, Dani seems revitalised.
