1st album (Exoplanet) magnificent

2nd album (Intrinsic) very very average

3rd album (Language) a return to form, in a new way, breathtaking musicianship

4th album (Clairvoyant) pretty good but it doesn't hit the way Language did

Seems that every even digit album was a dud, I'm hoping their 5th will bring new ideas and life into the band as Language has done

EP is a toss up, it could sound like Clairvoyant or it could sound completely different, I'm excited

As much as I’ve enjoyed their stuff in the past, I still can’t bring myself to get into this album

It's pretty different from their previous releases for sure. I can't say I don't miss the super engrossing sci-fi natureworld of Language or the virtuoso instrumental work, but this lives up to those and has some of their best songs like the t/t, The Center, and the opener and closer.

This album is like the perfect blend between Tool and Periphery IMO (minus the vocals I guess cause I know a lot of people aren't necessarily fond with Lessard's vocals on this)

Lol even his low-key vocals are a hundred times better than those high-pitched, angsty Periphery vocals

I guess there are some small similarities to how Maynard sings but overall The Contortionist owe a hell lot more to Cynic

I dig the vocals on this but then I often likes vocals that other people describe as boring.

Not only love the vocals as I do love how they are layered...its one of the album's strongest points. So if you don t get/dig those you don t get/dig the album.

Caught them live again last night. After checking this again I'm reminded how amazing the singles are and how others just kinda don't go anywhere.
