Return to the earth is the climax of the album imo...and this record is pretty emotional if you may check the lyrics and the main theme... in order to like this you have to stop comparing it to exoplanet (another awesome record, but tottaly different as if it was another band)

I heard it once and it was kinda forgettable. I have't taken the time to go back to it though. I'm sure it has some redeeming qualities.

“Exoplanet was successful was because of its unique mixture of genres”
it was literally just ‘proggy’ deathcore with synth textures/lines and post-rocky twinkles, take off those glasses

you can make anything sound worse by oversimplifying it
at the time that style was unique and they did it well even if it was “literally just” proggy deathcore

now they did make it better than their peers but it wasn’t unique. mixing acacia strain, cynic, and between the buried and me was happening before it was released, it just was made by unremarkable bands. and other metalcore bands of the time like bleeding through were playing with synths and prog.

Upon relistenings, i get soooo much less out of Exoplanet than i do this album, i know its up to personal taste, but i am really surprised how many sway towards Exoplanets favor, the weighing scales is uneven, and it shouldnt be this way

I need to hear Exoplanet again, it's been a long while since I heard that album in uni

idk tundra exoplanet is considerably better than this. to each their own tho
although i don't think it's as good as i once did but i've also grown off a lot of -core music

"This is about his friend ODing on drugs for christ-sake. Show a little emotion. "
Dude...Monochrome Pensive is full of emotion, the "I know you couldn't sleep" line still gives me chills with how Mike delivers it as his voice wavers at the end of the note. Having a massive hoorah around someone's life is kinda cheesy and cliche IMO. This is much more quaint and introspective.

How is Exoplanet considerably better? because Exoplanet is more technical? because it blends deathcore and beautiful spectacle passages? i personally think Exoplanet is overly heavy, and heavy af for the sake of it, and not all of the transitions into those beautiful passages are what i call... natural... i like Exoplanet but Clairvoyant has way more heart and i feel a lot more from it (my personal opinion once again)

This has had a lot of staying power for me. Still in regular circulation.

Yeah I might have to give this more attention. I listened to a bit of Monochrome Penis and it actually sounded really good, especially the epic ending.

Almost spat out my drink at Monochrome Penis, thanks a lot, bloc.

Yea the last three tracks are especially moving. The middle is a little lacking at points but after a few listens, I've begun to appreciate it for what it is, being a build-up to the epic conclusion.
