I don’t HATE it but it really disrupts the vibe for me

An Oxford comma is helpful, clear, and proper.

Just googled it. Whether I use an oxford comma or not just depends on how I want the sentence to flow rhythmically. A lot of the time it makes sense to use it imo

Fair, and I’m usually on board playing fast and loose with grammar rules if the situation allows. Seen quite a few times, though, where a missing Oxford comma subtly shifted or even reversed the meaning of a sentence, and because it’s been pushed into a more ambiguous grammatical territory where not having one is also accepted, the absence is usually an oversight, instead of the “know the rules so you can break them” variety.

Love me an Oxford comma

I can feel your passion for the oxford comma here. Good to know they have someone that cares.

there is no reason not to use oxford commas, definitely a transgression in my book

I usually use the Oxford comma but if it’s not necessary for disambiguation it doesn’t bother me if others don’t use it. Prescriptive rules for the sake of it are silly.

Oxford comma all the way. Great example of when not to use it though procupine—although that is not an instance in which you would be debating using it or not, because the sentence changes completely without it.

I just legitimately cannot understand why someone would be against the Oxford comma. Even in situations where ambiguity is a non-factor, just use the goddamn thing. It can never hurt your sentence. It can literally only make it better.

I’m not against it I just mean I wouldn’t go militant on someone if ambiguity isn’t an issue in a particular case

I would assume there are teachers and professors who would dock marks for it, otherwise yeah idk why people wouldn't use it

Teachers, professors and instructors.

See, that looks fairly unambiguous, but still shifts the meaning. Rather than "teachers, professors, and instructors" indicating a list of equally balanced things, the lack of 'ol Oxford turns "professors and instructors" into an appositive. "Professors and instructors" are now an aside clarifying "teachers" as the subject, rather than still existing as three subjects.

Eh I guess

My linguistics training just inclines me to be skeptical of any normative/prescriptive claim about language or conventions.
