"Hey Rosey and So Far So Fast are the clear highlights imo. Rylan is officially their most overrated song"

'A lot of people recently decided that this was one of their worst at some point apparently, sput is weird'

I decided that on my 1st listen, by my 5th listen it was still apparent and by my 10th listen, guess what? Nothing had changed.

Yeah I don't think that's a particularly unusual opinion. from alligator onwards at least.

Gryo: yes. imo Rylan would have made an adequate b-side to high violet which i suspect is why its adored

This is their best since HV for me, at least now. IAETF might grow to that status tho who knows, it took me over a year to first get into Boxer and HV.

Rylan is probably my favorite song on IAETF. Hairpin Turns, Quiet Light, Roman Holiday, Oblivions, and the t/t are up there too.

they said Rylan was written 10 years ago, so that explains the attention it's getting.

We leave our saviors wrapped around the necks of new machines

Or at the ends of threads that hold their bodies to the ground

And then the men who look a little like they feel like me

Offered them some bottled water, then they cut them down

^ New album needs more of this kind of stuff.

I really wanted an album in the style of the title track, would have been immense

Instead we got one short monologue about a dolphin balloon

I'm listening to this again for the first time in a while, and while the sequencing is kind of a mess (still not as much as I Am Easy to Find tho) and having the two weakest songs together, "Empire Line" and "Turtleneck" further drags down the momentum, but the songs themselves are most all excellent. Only Boxer, HV, and Alligator are better and that's three of the best albums by any rock bands of the past 15 years.

Jamming this now. Love this band, I waited too long to catch up on them. The new one reminded me though. m/
