Not their best but definitely some mindblowing moments, really nice to see them experiment. This is probably the closest they got to recreating some of the magic on Bilateral with their use of textures and atmosphere.

Compared to all their previous work, this is pretty boring..
Good progrock music, but there are almost no elements on this album for which I started listening to them.. when I say that my all time favorite songs from them are : Forced Entry, Waste of Air, Cryptogenic Desires, Rewind, Slave, Coal, Chronic, Contaminate Me or any song from their debut, you know instantly that I love(d) them because of their mixture of mellow, quiet moments and heavy, metal (in some parts even black metal) sections, great use of harsh vocals between all those fantastic sounding clear vocals, great, unique guitar work, fast and unexpected tempo changes, franatic drumming, etc.
Pretty much all of this things are missing on Malina - fun fact, in my language malina means raspberry - it's definitely not a bad album, it's in fact pretty good but in my opinion definitely their weakest

I don't think those are the things they are going for anymore. They're not even "progrock music" anymore tbh.

The vocals on this album are absolutely gorgeous throughout.
maybe it's just me but the vocals are what made me turn this off, just a bit too cheese for me. i always struggle to get into prog vocals for some reason. sucks because i love the instrumentals usually

This really grew on me. The orchestral moments really give this a lot more emotion.

I expected to enjoy it, considering that Leprous are among my favourite bands, but it's growing on me a lot and fast. Despite the change in style (not that dramatic, really, but clearly noticeable), this might easily be the most I've enjoyed one of their albums on release since Bilateral.
I find Bonneville and Malina are easily among their best work to date.

Strings bring this to another level

The last section of Weight is one of my favorite leprous moments. The way he sings "farther than beforeeeeeee" is so fucking cool

Idk how to rate this. It's more emotional than congregation but not as powerful, arguably.

I dig that this is shorter than The Congregation which was kind of exhausting to sit through at points and songs don't drag on like Coal. Also has a lot more focus than Bilateral. This is probably their best album yet. Also the harsh vox weren't too great either, so I'm very much enjoying this.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I liked the Congregation more on first listen, but this needs some time. There are some brilliant ideas but it's not really where I was hoping they would go with it.

@Recreate: Wouldn't necessarily say that it's their best but other than that that comment is spot on, yes

I've ran a lot of the older material into the ground besides Tall Poppy, so I'm probably just leaning toward it being the best because its fresh.

Listening now and pretty blown away by the first song. The cellist from Musk Ox, Raphael Weinroth-Browne, contributed strings to this which initially piqued my interest in this record, but I'm definitely digging it.

strings are definitely a highlight feature on this album

Yes, those plus the electronic influences are basically the main things that make this stand out from the precursors. I like that both aren't used in the clichéd way but always fitting the songs and never seem like they are just there because they felt like it.

No, it doesn't feel rushed at all. The t/t and The Last Milestone are both awesome and especially the latter is something completely different from what we're used to.
I'd like to review this, thing is I don't have something really different to point out.
