Agreed with all Point1's examples. BN are weird in that they have more hits than misses lyrically, but their hits are strong enough that the weaker lines really stand out

yeah but this album is perfect except for how "137" and "Out of Mana" are a bit too similar to have been put together so idk what you're talking about :/

Could Never Be Heaven and No Control are the only things that aren't across the board perfect here.

Agreed on 137 and Out of Mana being too similar, but that's kinda forgivable. Same Logic is contrived as hell, would put that a step above No Control as the second worst track here
Could Never Be Heaven is ok just because of that gorgeous bridge, but it's poorly sequenced

if TDAG was 6 tracks long it would be the greatest thing in music and would probably sit at a 4.7 or 4.8

Not the Sun is the only one i could do without.

Not the Sun has an 11/10 bridge though. TDAG's tracks all feel Big enough not to work as an EP, so they're allowed maybe 3 filler songs. 8-9 tracks would be perf

No Control is a bit lame but the chorus really clicks with me for some reason...
And the convolutedness of Same Logic is what makes it work imo, it's "Degausser" levels of ballsy on a record that sorely needs a shot in the arm at that exact point
Not the Sun and Archers are kinda duds imo though the former is much better

It's because you like washed-up 90s alt sounds that don't have too much in common with their original inspirations ;]
Mmm yeah I guess the sequencing kinda demanded it, but it's got probably the worst lyrics on the album and the heavier parts are kinda try-hard compared to other stuff they've rocked in that vein. That said, Degausser also had a couple of atrocious verses and didn't suffer too badly for it

How on earth you'd shorten TDAG to six tracks and feel it's better off is beyond my comprehension.
137 and Out of Mana sound nothing alike.
SF has no poor songs but Could Never Be Heaven is the closest to approaching average. No Control is underrated due to the awesome outro. Also Same Logic is a top 5 song on SF and is incredible. Most of the album is pretty contrived if you want to get technical, because it's an ode to their fans, their career, and the cumulative sound they've made. It doesn't matter because what they contrived was incredible and better than 97% of records released during the past decade.

Well yeah, if you're gonna broaden it that far, pretty much everything this band has ever done is pretty contrived; I guess re. Same Logic the term is synonymous with over-laboured, which is exactly how those meat-hammer (and often q cliched?) lyrics + phoned-in breakdown come off to me. Wouldn't call it, or anything here, a bad song, but it sure as hell ain't pedestal material imo

137/Out of Mana are my favorite songs here, along with Lit Me Up. After that would come In the Water, Batter Up, and Can’t Get it Out probably.
Same Logic is god awful and cringeworthy, too many throwbacks to the worst impulses of the early 00s. Whenever I actually try to listen through it I end up just turning off the album. Could never be heaven, the bridge is awesome, but the very on the nose triplet guitar and vocal lines bother me in the first half.
On TDAG, if they deleted Archers, Not the Sun, and either moved Untitled somewhere else in the track list or removed it I would 5 that album.
The main reason I prefer Daisy these days is the lack of bloat.

remove “welcome to bangkok” + “untitled” + “handcuffs” then make “luca” the new closer
|
| |
be kind to me

I like Welcome to Bangkok tbh. I didn’t want to be too aggressive cutting their closer but I would be fine with just dropping Luca after Bangkok and ending the album there. I didn’t check but I feel like that would probably be a 40 min album still, and an easy 5.
