I think it's kinda gorgeous.
In The Water and Desert right next to each other make me happy when I listen to this straight through.

Waste and 137 are probably the most overrated tracks here. Both solid songwriting but far from highlights
|
| |
do people actually talk about 137? I’d like to join those discussions. Song is fucking awesome

In the water is a gorgeous song, but the lyrics are fluff, things like “being in the water” and “breaking apart a heart” are such vague metaphors for me that I doubt they really mean anything

137 is awesome, yes. But I'd agree with Waste being one of the lesser songs. Everything here is gold tbh (and yes, even No Control is fun to listen to).

Waste has a very uplifting feel to it. Good for depression.

Definitely their best album.

I love Batter Up. I think it’s their best closer.

I love Batter Up too but their strongest closer? That's quite the statement.
I'd go:
Noro > Play Crack the Sky > Soco > Batter Up > Handcuffs

Yeah see, I like Noro and CTS, but prefer Batter Up personally.
Batter Up > Play Crack the Sky > Noro > Soco > Handcuffs
At least we agree on Handcuffs ha. It’s actually most likely my least fav on TDAG.

TDAG is more consistent
I’d probably agree on that as there are some meh tracks on Sci fi for me (Desert, Could Never Be Heaven and 451), but I love the other songs enough to make this a 5. I have TDAG 5’d as well and really, I only slightly give Sci fi the edge. It’s close.

The disrespect to Handcuffs is just insulting.
I’d personally say: Noro > Batter Up > Handcuffs > Play Crack The Skye > Soco

Never been a big fan of Handcuffs. Just ok for me. 3/5.

I think it works perfect as the closer to TDAG. While a lot of the lyrics are uncomfortable, I think they work to showcase the point Jesse is making that he’s a fucked up dude and unsure if he can change. I won’t pretend I won’t get why some don’t care for it, but I love the song all the same.
