Intriguing and wonderful album, gotta give it some more spins but on first listen it left a good impression. Three Rings is probably my fav. along with Systole.

This was so much worse than I expected/hoped for. Band had so much character before shields. Seems like all the best 2000s popular indie bands are just so monotonous now

Not sure about this after one spin

They're at the stage of their career where listeners are eager to backlash and spurn them for their "unfashionable" music. The National dealt with the same thing on their 4th big album TWFM, took a few years but it's now viewed as favorably as their other records. Think this one will have a similar trajectory.
