brand new is sorta like Tool in how they've released music, except they managed to get an album out in under a decade.

In reference to Sowings comments earlier: take your time with it mate. The site already has a couple of good reviews for those looking for some discourse; let it sink in and get the review to where you want it before posting. I'm sure that's your attitude anyway, but just some friendly encouragement that that's the correct approach.

Lit Me Up gave me a lot of false hope for this album first run through. I really liked the creepy sci-fi feel of it and it almost seemed like they would taking a Metropolis Part II approach to the album, which would have been interesting. But it really took a hard turn to a mix of like 90s emo/Modest Mouse to acoustic BN. I dunno, Devil and God is my all time favorite album, and I really liked Daisy as well. So this would fall below those two and probably Deja as well. It just seems like it's missing 1 or 2 upbeat/heavier songs like You Won't Know or Sink.

tbh most of their albums have a pretty misleading opener and it's quite a shame since tautou, vices and lit me up are all awesome but the rest of their respective albums don't hold up except for this one to a fair extent.

Might grow to a 4.5 one day. Not as good as TDAG, bit surprised people are enamored enough to make those claims.
