Definitely not the most forgettable. There’s some real quality on here.

Surprisingly, the songs that have stayed with me are not the singles. Detonation, Song of Unborn and Blank Tapes. The rest, while enjoyable, is not what I will go back to.

1 year on this has some solid songs but a lot of it feels a bit by the numbers

HCE is still his best solo albums

Yep, HCE and Raven are his best solo albums. Insurgentes and Grace are effing epic as well. To The Bone pales in comparison to his previous works, but is still good. Definitely not a bad album at all.

Still find myself coming back to this which is a good sign.

I think in a lot of ways he will never top the vulnerability and ambitiousness of Grace. Lightning in a bottle kinda stuff imo. But Raven and HCE are just as good.

Giving it a spin in the new year and forgot just how good it was.... damn. “Pariah” is a jam and a half.

I really like (even love) his debut album Insurgentes. I may be in the minority here but I feel that everything after that album, for the most part is derivative and sounds less modern. There were some futurist or at least not 'stuck in the 1970's' sounding songs on Grace for Drowning and Hand. Cannot. Erase. but they were few and far between.

I still need to jam his first two solo albums, but I'm not on a Wilson mood atm.

Wow you're crazy. You've only listened to the lamer solo albums and avoided the great ones? Get on that man.

Grace for Drowning is his next best after HCE and this imo

I could see the argument that everything after Insurgentes is just derivative. Despite its clear 70’s homages, I think Grace is his most genuine work though

Is it only me who loves Same Asylum as Before?

Yea Same Asylum as Before is a favorite of mine.

I wouldn't call most of his solo work derivative, maybe just some moments on GfD and Raven in terms of 70s music.
