'Says the user who is being a cunt about someone having a different opinion and joking around with someone who takes themselves far too seriously'

different opinion is one thing... but there isn't a single bit of '80's sax' on that record. stupid comment, own it. and maybe you should refrain from asshole comments like 'run along...' dick

lol okay

silver moon totally doesn't have the overproduced 80s sax sound, why the fuck should I "own it" just because you disagree

two tracks out of twenty with sax on it and you label it a 80's sax album. I guess you kinda got fixated on that and forgot about beautiful guitar work throughout

except I never said it was an "80s sax album"?

great guitar work, but I could live without a lot of the stuff on this like you could live without the majority of the stuff on Blemish/Manafon

quite simple, really

its just a bad characterization tho. I'll leave it at that.

manafon is a whole nother discussion... david just twitter'd his retirement. enough said

"david just twitter'd his retirement"

there's nothing of the such online, so I'll take that more of a comment toward Manafon

if anything, he's been more active this past year than he's been since the end of the prior decade, when Manafon came out

browse the twitter comments, you'll see dialog between him and a fan. in another life was his reply. thats not the first time hs has hinted at it.

there were also strong rumours that david delivered 2 new records to universal, the label that bought samadahi in 2015. both were shelved for now. they were more interested in the nine horses stuff.

do you really consider his recent releases worthy though? playing the school house is a field recording with some nice stereo mixing. the new ep, there is no love, is an 5 year old spoken word piece that he dusted off. the sakamoto track is nice, but its another leftover poem from the previous chasm sessions.

there is no market for the freeform stuff. manafon sold 5,500 copies. that includes the special edition + vinyl. scott walkers last record sold 7,500 copies.

Universal didn't buy Samadhisound, it was shuttered. What you are spreading are nothing but rumors.

I don't recall sales equaling quality, as Scott is on a reputable indie label (4AD) while David self-released his stuff. Of course, it's going to sell less with less promotion and a less reputable brand, considering how many people namedrop Scott as an influence (David fucking Bowie literally viewed Scott as some kind of god for a period). Did you forget the vinyl edition of Manafon was limited to just 2000 copies and was a one-off on an indie label that has zero distributors and was in-house? Or do you just intend on following your highly inaccurate head-canon, considering David has said absolutely nothing concerning retirement nor has hinted at it, or once again, have you forgot that David isn't exactly a tell-all kind of person?

Now to the new stuff, Schoolhouse was rather poor but it has its audience, considering it sold out on an even less known indie label, while There Is No Love was rather magnificent honestly. Plus, there IS a reason I consider Async my AOTY so far, aside from Life, Life of course. (it wasn't a leftover from Chasm though, it was recorded for a benefit in 2011/12)

By all means, I can gladly contact the man himself and ask if the so-called Universal deal is legitimate, if you want to continue this narrative.

fripper... you are wrong. plain and simple. a simple google search of |sylvian|universal| will reveal quite a bit.

but by all means... give him a call. make sure and ask him when the new record is coming out.

The fan forums do not indicate a rumor's truth, feel free to stop acting like you're the only one in on the ongoing rumor mill surrounding the man's work

as for a new record, considering how fickle the 80s stans are, you won't be satisfied anyways
