Ulatraviolence is pretty great but it runs into the same problems of homogeneity. After a while everything starts to sound the same

for sure
but West Coast, Ultraviolennce, and Brooklyn Baby all make my top 5 lana songs
|

Yeah those are all stellar songs. I'll admit born to die has some filler? But overall it feels way more like a triple a title than anything else she's done.
So far, from what I can tell, the former half of this is markedly better than the latter. Need more time with it.

yeah the 2nd half is uniformly ace, first half has some clunkers but also has great stuff too
|
| |
The latter half has a lot of snoozers like heroin, where she just sounds bored af. I've listened to the second half twice so far and idk what drugs yall are on saying it's the best stuff she's ever done. Must have slipped into the twilight zone

God Bless America on is straight up perfect IMO

"heroin" is my favorite on the album. love the second half of that song and the "oh my god" vocal moment. wish she'd diversify her singing, that's the only section where the vocals caught me off guard

Lana Del Rey just does nothing for me anymore. When I was 18 I was in love with Born to Die and 2 years later was even more in love with Ultraviolence. However, with albums like this all I hear is just an emotionless set of songs that blend together. Shave like 30+ minutes of this album and the thing might not be as bad. Unfortunately, I feel nothing when I listen to her anymore and this album is sleep inducing.

Yeah see that's where I start to get bored. That song in particular is especially dull
|
| |
That cover is very Disneyesque
|
| |
Yeah, you guys are on some premium drugs because this is so fucking boring lol. God bless America, listening to it now and she's never sounded so dull

well get on these drugs then bc they make the second half sound lit af

album is so long because of streaming culture. more tracks = more revenue. drake was the first to capitalize on this and seems like lana is following suit

t/t has shangri-las influence.
cannot deny it ~

lana said her favorite from the record is "heroin", glad I've been listening correctly

damn it, I wasn't first!! Then damn it again, considering that you emphasized some of the very points which I had prepared for my own review. Ah, doesn't matter. Solid review of a great album. Let's enjoy it!

There's truly no album I hate more than Born To Die, it's like a visceral unconscious thing I don't even know
I like/love everything else by her tho
|
| |
Born To Die is one of my favorite albums of the last ten years, but for some reason I've never really given anything else she's done a good listen. You make this sound very appealing though, so I think I'll give it an honest try. Good review!
