You baited the hook with the way you linked the album up to NY. Very unfair, my friend.

Top-notch review. This has some of my favorite Miles moments, so it's good to see the record finally receive a proper write-up here.

Just put it up actually haha! It's Gaga and Bennett's duet album, not great jazz mind you, but definitely worth talking about

I've been meaning to check out Miles Davis (late, I know!) and wanted to start out with buying Bitches' Brew...I heard snippets on youtube and loved it. Which others are essential?

Beautifully written! Very enthused to dig into more of Miles' stuff. I'm currently rebuilding a cd collection I'd lost, along with new titles this time...my goal is to have around 1000 cd's, and only maybe a tenth of that will be dedicated to guilty pleasure music. I want basically 900 classics lol. adding Miles to that should help! I think the closest thing to jazz I like might be Nina Simone, if she counts

I'm kind of biased as far as suggestions for Davis go, because I don't give much time to his fusion period.. his best work to me is the hard bop.. bit do check In A Silent Way, Sketches of Spain, Milestones, Kind of Blue..

Also, Mingus, Monk, Coltrane, Adderley are the holy standard bearers of the genre..
