Of course that's a plus, but it wasn't of that much use for me since the music just felt flat for the most part.

I cannot recall a band that consistently puts out so many good albums. Unfortunately, I was not overly fond of this one, and its predecessor Distant Satellites. What are people's preferences for albums? Discounting the first three albums, I'd go for:

Judgement > Alternative 4 > A Natural Disaster > We're here Because We're Here > Weather Systems > A Fine Day To Exit > The Optimist > Distant Satellites.

Lol you got that all backwards! Should be Judgement > Alternative 4 etc.

Benkim, there I was thinking you had to put your favourite album at the end! Great way to start my Sputnik commenting!

I've edited it now to reflect my true ratings. To clear up any doubt, Judgement is my favourite Anathema record and Distant Satellites is my least favourite. Alternative 4 was my favourite, but upon a lot of re-listening, I find Judgment to a be a much tighter, consistent record.

Saw them together with Leprous and Ihsahn two days ago. Managed to get a signed t-shirt and poster which is pretty cool. I was close to getting a picture with Vincent but they left pretty quickly :/

Anyways, they played a lot of the new songs and I'm not the biggest fan of Optimist. Untouchable (both parts) was def the highlight. What I wasn't surprised by was their live performance which was pretty great overall.

I really hope their next album will be closer to Judgement (or at least WHBWH) in style, rather than the dark but overblown style from Optimist. Still, I don't think they're even capable of putting out a bad album, so no worries about quality

I saw them at ATG and they weren't happy with the sound and super grumpy but they still ruled

My god Endless Ways makes me feel so many things. The average for this is so shitty.

Endless Ways is great but the album as a whole is so mediocre

Nothing here stuck with me except Endless Ways/Optimist/SF/Springfield.

Leaving it Behind in particular is just such a bland woeful song, awful way to start the album

We know a person who is like this album and they're insufferable after 5 minutes.

Is it bad that Weather Systems is my fave Anathema?

I think their only album that definitely tops that one is Judgement, so no.

Nah pleb, especially if you’ve been through a recent break up. That’s when that album will click and be there for you. Unfortunately that’s what it took for me haha
