honestly both of their albums have been some of the best death metal I've heard in ages. long may these guys continue.

as a guitarist too I'm simply blown away by some of the compositions they put out. truly inspiring stuff. it's both enormously approachable and yet not at the same time. melodic in a melancholy way all the while being harshly dissonant. fantastic musicians honestly.

I like this and Labyrinth Constellation considerably more now than I remember. They have that nifty knack of hiding unexpected grooves and melodies where you’d least expect it. Weirdly accessible at times.
I’ve heard the new Ulcerate tracks and it’ll be interesting to see how their new direction compares, given the more melodic nature of what we’ve heard so far.

This is a better 4.5 f.e.
Afterbirth is a better 4 than Flourishing a 4.5 f.e.

So Flourishing is better... why didn’t you just say that? And yes, on first inspection it does indeed rule!

I genuinely like Afterbirth better and spin it everyday, no problem (and I 4.5 it), but its very different. Flourishing for me is one of those albums I have 4.5d but rarely go back to...

OK so I just went back in for more of this after Labyrinth Constellation and Flourishing, following up on Obscura/Shrines of Paralysis from yesterday. I need medical help now. Pummelled myself into blissful oblivion.

Oh yeah I considered it, love that album. Maybe a bit much right now though. Looking forward to the new record if it ever gets a concrete release date.
@DDD: I definitely revisit Obscura the most, despite the slightly more inconvenient length. I swear that album has never-ending replay value.

Every time I go for it its a well worth time, but agree is over lengthy at times...such as Colored Sands...but that one ends up to be more accessible idk...
