Kiiiiiinda wish I'd made this a 3.5 instead of letting my rating be a tiny bit inspired by a song title. Still spinning it.
Also vinyl jokes - the album plays at 33.3rpm...

have you read laura's autobio? it's phenomenal.
fun fact: the song "mediocrity gets you pears" got its name because their manager at the time (whom they all hated) gave laura (then tom obvi) a bunch of expensive electronics for xmas while the other 3 received fruit baskets.

It's definitely not as good as TDB, but especially songs after(and including) Haunting Haunted Haunts are pretty good. They tried some new ideas for them and it just didnt work out that well sadly

I'm crazy surprised by how little i liked this. I love everything else this band has done

This is so boring. Love the rest of her work, but wow is this bland.

Searching For a Former Clarity, Reinventing and Trans Dysph Blues are the best. Lots of nice jams on White Crosses. New Wave is kind of a chore to get through nowadays. Eternal Cowboy rules, too🐠

id place new wave above former clarity atm personally but clarity is just now starting to click with me a lot. reinventing and tdb are def the best tho

I love everything against me has put out since like the crime ep
...except this rip. Like im even a big defender of some of their albums that people dont like as much from them (white crosses is a top 3 album of theirs and i will defend it until i die), but this just didnt grab me

Haven't listened to White Crosses in full, though Teenage Anarchist and Because of the Shame are some of my favorite Tracks. But yeah, this is so benign. Especially when coming after TDB

TDB is an album i kinda respect more than i actually enjoy it, since im so happy for Laura and all but i cant help but find myself skipping a couple songs off it (unconditional love and drinkin with the jocks take me out of the mood hard). That said, the t/t, true trans soul rebel, fuckmylife666 and dead friend are easily some of my favs from the band, but its less cohesive than some of the other albums I constantly spin from them. Still a great record tho

I can see that. I've always enjoyed their more melodic / anthemic tunes the hardcore sound of Axl Rose and TDB was the embodiment of all that I liked.

Idk what i like the most out of them since my top 3 are former clarity, axl rose and white crosses lol
I just know that what i like more ain’t this :/

Kinda pissed it took me so long to listen to this because not only is it better than their previous album it's the best thing they've done since their pre-New Wave days. Boyfriend and Dead Rats especially rule.
