Demon friend. Depeche mode were a great band that spread their influence in many ways on music and not only. One of them was clearly a northern european revivalism. The vocals and the general vibe is unquestionable on this and a lot of bands from the same scene.

arguable. I cant say this is or isn't DM inspired, just cannot hear that in any kind of noticeable way. I see how the similarities could be justified potentially with enough effort too, but I think its almost illusory; mostly just a product of the vocals at times. this sounds more darkwave /electronic instrumentally, reminds me more of trip-hop, 90s electronic music like massive attack. last song on here almost sounds like moby on vocals in the beginning. literally every song seems to reference early 90s club music in some way. and just to be clear, stated it before, very familiar with Depeche mode and their work. im seeing different influences here.

Your analisis is valid but there's a bunch of scandinavian bands "going Depeche Mode" and a lot of 80's and 90's revivalism. And saying this doesn't have to be bad at all (and for sure not on this case). This one, instrumentaly, often reminds me of Younger Brother as well. Do you know them?

Yeah this has more of an early to mid Aha vibe.

Younger brother is a Simon posford's project. You should check Last days of Gravity for a pinkfloydish psychedelic vibe. Simon Posford is a great electronic producer reponsible for projects like Shpongle and Hallucinogen.

They're related to Shpongle and very good yea.
It seems to me that saying this is too similar to Depeche Mode or Younger Brother or whatever else are listening on a more surface level. I'd understand those feelings for someone jamming for the first time, but if you pay attention, this is still unique and unconventional like all of their work. It might sound a bit derivative of popular groups just because in comparison to other Ulver, its their most accessible and has some art pop elements.

I always talked about it on general vibes and reinterpretation of those waves. I sure do see the excellence on this.

exactly. I've noticed every time something comes out that seems to exude anything slightly synthpop, people compare to Depeche mode. seems comical, with all the other out there bands that sound way more similar to this. but I would agree. this album is its own beast, just takes note of various past artists I think.

This tour live was wonderful.
I'd say that Ulver got better with time, and what a diverse band they have been. kudos for living off of their quite complex art
