he does the "post-tragedy" album better than most of the ones that have come out recently that receive massive praise

I doubt I'll love this as much as Carrie & Lowell, probably more than Skeleton Tree though.

dunno if it's been mentioned yet cos there's already pages about this album but this album is in chronological order yeah? Seaweed is eleven days after she died, Ravens and Forest Fire are one month, My Chasm and Swims are two months, Toothbrush/Trash is three

in a sense, I completely agree con. Because of the barebones instrumentation and literal lyricism, the grief of the record is so unavoidable and upfront so as to make it quite a brutal/depressing experience, as opposed to records like Carrie and Lowell where I can get caught up in the beautiful instrumentation at times and forget some of the themes. Its damn impressive, and probably so much harder than it looks to execute. Also, this record makes everything I've ever complained about or felt sad about for the last 20 years of my life look insignificant; helps put things in perspective, doing me quite a bit of good to be honest.

yeah i definitely agree man especially that last point. but to quote Kevin Devine, "I realize my shit's about as small as it could be but that makes me feel worse for even feeling this bad in the first place"

I'm usually pretty skeptical of hype like this but this is truly amazing man I would give it a fair chance
