Same, the first bands I ever liked were Silverchair and Sublime when I was 8. I went off onto a wigger phase for a while, but now I'm back on track

If he has a soft spot for Simple Plan, there's really nothing wrong with that.

Don't be an eliteist. Now that I've listened to this album in full, I actually kind of like it. I'd give it a 2/5 though.

The Ramones were pop-punk.

ramones were actually good though. They were punk back in the 70's but now its considered pop punk, they were a lot more respectable too.

I wouldn't really call them pop punk. They sucked at their instruments, and that goes with the punk ideal that its the emotion, and anyone can pick up an instrument and express themselves. They definately influenced pop punk, but I wouldn't say they were pop punk.

Good review, but i can't stand Simple Plan. I could literally write a song that sounded like them in half hour.

That one song Perfect is pretty ok I guess, even if it's over played on the radio. I sometimes feel like I can relate to that. Other then that I guess they're ok. Nice review btw.

It's rhythm dam-nit. Not rythem.

Simple Plan is awesome. They fail to excel in any aspect, and all the of the band members are less than mediocre at what they do.
Simple plan suck so much **** its not funny. They killed most of punk (IMO with the help of good charlotte) They are convincing people that this is punk. Real punk is rise against, goldfinger, pennywise and especially the ramones. Listen to these bands and not these ****ty other bands Avil lavignue is also crap and missleading. Just balls? Bull ****ing ****!
Im not saying i like avril lavign a whole lot but she never said she was punk, everyone just made the assumption that that is what she thought she was. On AOL Sessions she said that she wasnt punk thats just what everybody else was saying.

And good charlette isnt that bad, i got there new cd the chronicals of life and death and its actually pretty good.

Thank you mike100, people really need to learn to spell rythym. I hate simple plan, purely because of the vocals, don't mind the music so much but aarrghh that guys voice, it's enough to make any singer cringe!

Also, theres nothing wrong with listening to pop-punk as long as you realise that's what it is, pop-punk. I know bands like Blink 182, Good Charlotte etc. aren't real punk, don't care but at least i know eh? The problem is when people think those bands are real punk. And GC's new cd, terrible, how can you release a cd called "the chronicles of life and death" which is an awesome title then release that horrible "i just wanna live" song?

if you realize that simple plan is pop punk, then there's no problem with you liking them. i personally think they are an ok, not great pop punk band who can be a bit annoying at times. its if you think that they are punk that annoys me.

and avril lavigne is a fake bullsh*t pop star who thinks she's punk because (some) of her songs have guitar in them...get real, please!

^Simple Plan is simply pop as well. If you like pop, there's nothing wrong with the band. I don't see why they take so much sh'it.

The real thing bugging me about these comments is all the ones similar to "I could write these songs in 10 minutes." Well if you could.......... why don't you? Guys like Simple Plan make tons off their simple songs. Why don't some of you guys stop b'itching and write that kind of music? You might make a fortune. I agree their songs aren't terribly hard, but look at it this way...

You can't tell me that half of you wouldn't want to get paid to write easy songs, and get all the hot groupies to boot. I know some of you honestly wouldn't, but a lot of people in here would.
Well, I LOVE Simple Plan... and yeah I guess I do agree with some of whats been said, but I LOVE them nonetheless. The're awesome and their songs aren't all sex and drugs... its stuff that I as a teeneager can relate too. They're awesome but I respect all your opinions, just coz I Love them it doesn't mean you have too.
Oh good review by the way.
Thanks
and Pierre is hot and he has the maddest voice.

Simple Plan(and others similar) get a lot of flack because they seriously think that they are "punk"(or at least they come off that way). Basicly they are trying to be something they arn't and most people who have a brain in there head see that as a bad thing.

Thing is it's not that simple, yeah more than half of the people here CAN write better songs in less than 10 minutes, but who is going to listen? Today's mainstream music is not popular based on how good it is as it is how exposed it is, mainstream music IS business and, no matter how much some would say otherwise, how big a band gets is not really based on how talented they are rather how well they are exposed to the public.

All that is due to how ignorant the average music listener out there is and how most people simply chose to believe that the radio is the best it gets. Which is why we have rap :D. Ok I'm done now.

I agree in the fact that they have to have something like looks or whatever to be popular. But people on here could just as easily sell those songs to Simple Plan and similar bands and still make a lot of money.

And I don't know about Simple Plan, but bands like Yellowcard actually have came out and straight up said that they weren't punk.
