I want to go back to the Peaks sometime, went once as a kid and it was magic. Got some work in Birmingham next month though and can't say I'm as excited (although it's easy to find great curry there) I was nearish Kettering, on the edge of the Northants, dreary part of the country but pretty cute countryside

Yeah it's not great. Used to go out in Corby when I was in sixth form, bit of a shit hole and the area as a whole is prob the reason I'd not live in the countryside again tbh.

Love the countryside just don't need to actually live in a village is the stance.
When I first moved in with my other half she owned a flat in Claygate, very well to do area right on the outskirts of (or just beyond?) 'Greater London' and at night is was pitch dark and silent, amazing. Could also walk to large woodlands and farm land - did love it.
Priced out of actually buying a house in that area though, now trapped in suburbia
