This may or may not be an appropriate thread to say this, but you sir, are a fucking elitist. I've noticed it in nearly all your posts. You are not the only person here who knows about the metalcore/grindcore/whatever scene, so shut the fuck up with the 'I know something you don't know' attitude.
Just thought I'd say it
Amen. Well said.

From that breakdown thread:
Umm, thats fine and dandy, I know what a breakdown is itself. I'm asking HOW to play one. Like listen to ENDLESS by UNEARTH. In the beginning of the song that's basically a breakdown. How exactly would I play that? I know better breakdowns then At The Drive In. Trust me.
:amaze:
Er, what the fuck? He asks a question and then gets all high-and-mighty again.
Just play what you damn well hear if you know it so well!

Good to see this old review back. I actually have plans of completely revamping it and writing it with my current train of thought...or style, if you will. Basically I'll make it look really nice and it won't be track by track.
And Crushing Belial does crush most other songs on the album, although they are ALL amazing (I mean come, its Shadows Fall!).

This is just my favorite album, period. The only song I don't really like is Montauk. I love everything else about it. All the solos rock. The only thing i don't really like is the drummer. The one they have now is like 50 thousand times better.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS ALBUM, BUY IT RIGHT NOW!

That's one thing I noticed lately. Jason Bittner beats the hell out of The Knife.
Anyway - since I'm back in a Shadows Fall mood and I just bought this album I'll be redoing this review. It will be the album as a whole instead of track-by-track. I might just add the new one on though, since this one has stood for so long.

I liked this album alot. I think The War Within is better though. Jason Bittner is ALOT better than the drummer on this album.

better than the war within, but par with the art of balance. IMo that is.

I just picked this up today, and I don't think it's quite up to par with the Shad's later efforts. It's walking the line between a 3.5 and a 4 right now. I disagree wholeheartedly with the review. Root Bound Apollo and especially To Ashes are my favorites.

Now I do like Shadows Fall but this album was unbearable for me. It only took me two listens to put this away for good. They have definetly come a long way since this album and I thank god for that.

your 4.5 on the album and the song ratings do not match up at all...

The re-issue of this sounds sooo good. I've heard a lot of remasters that didn't make much difference, but it sounds drastically better than the original. This Message Edited On 04.15.08

Man don't you hate when you want to bump an album just to realize that the last comment in the thread was yours?
