True, but if I'm listening to SKM on a road trip it's gonna be Benji

Tried to listen to this while driving and it's the worst album of the year. Every song is way too long and most are just beyond garbage. Mark what the fuck happened to you

Could've been shorter but when it's great it's some of the best stuff I've heard this year

Finally picked this up - I was weary because of the song lengths and the possibility of exhausting myself with Mark's verbose, layered songs. So far, so good. Surprised by how much funk (?) and groove these songs have. Definitely like what I'm hearing, but will be a tough one to return to frequently because of how daunting the whole thing is.

I kind of hated him honing in further on this sound with Universal Themes after Benji and his work with Desertshore, but time has healed those wounds and I appreciate that album now too. I respect him for evolving and doing his own thing, and it's damn good a lot of the time. There are still a handful of cringy monologues that pop up, but comes with the territory.

This is like what that Magnetic Fields album would sound like if it was good
