You're right, U.K. was formed during that King Crimson's hiatus. At least Bruford and Wetton carried the prog torch in between.
I forgot to say something about ''Starless''; the lyrics and melodies were penned by John Wetton himself.
@Voivod, glad you dig that album that much, mate!

@ Jethro
Yeah, you're right. I forgot to mention that too. The original lyrics and the melody were written by Wetton to be the title track of "Starless And Bible Black". But what is more impressive is that one of the best prog tracks ever made probably was very close in not seeing the light of day. Why? Because initially Fripp and Wetton disliked the song. How can things be so different if a simple thing change in our minds?
Anyway, this was another reason why I choose "Red" to my tribute to Wetton.

Yeah SIIMBOLIC. But fortunately they could see the error and change it. It seems that later the lyrics were altered with the contribution of Palmer-James and a long instrumental section, based on a bass riff written by Bruford was added to it, with the contribution of some guitar work by Fripp. Fortunately, the final result is the astonishing track we know and we love.

Pos, RIP Wetton. For some reason I never connected deeply with this album. Then again my favorite KC is probably Islands so I must be weird!

Ha!, Ha!, Ha!, I liked your comment. You're definitely weird. Seriously, despite I clearly prefer "Red", their debut and some other albums, I always loved "Islands" too. I know that the album always divided fans and critics but it was one of my first vnyl purchases and I always loved it. It happened perhaps because their debut received more influences from symphonic rock, "Red" received more influences from hard and heavy rock and "Islands" received more influences from jaz. I don't know. What I can tell you is that "Islands" is a very beautiful and unique album in King Crimson discography. Sincerely, it's difficult for me detached any track on it because I love all the tracks on the album. It worth as a whole.
Thanks, Sabrutin.

That is very curious and original, I think, but very interesting too. Yeah, Fripp is one of the greatest talents in terms of music, a real fucking beast, as you said.

I really don't know if he is inconsistent. Probably his "inconsistency" is a consequence of his huge genius.

I strongly agree with you, amigo. This is really an amazing album, one of the best, indeed.
And about Wetton, all is said when we listen to his bass lines. He was really an amazing bassist, too.
RIP hard, really. He will be irreplaceable.
Thanks, amigo. It's always great to see you on my reviews. Um abraço.
