just realised that the first two songs on this record and the three before it are all really brilliant pairings of greg and tom songs. like they're always on par and the first one always leads into the second really beautifully, such that i usually think of em together as one opener in two parts (whos yr partner + i was born, tellin lies + thick as thieves, asshole + bad things, good things + burn after writing)

Farewell Youth is their best closer and brings on so much emotion. Love it. Anna is fantastic too

Meh, I mean their closers generally aren't the high points of their respective album. Freedom Bridge is the best of the bunch, though imo.

The Bars is super underrated. Perfect downtown Boston drinking song type melody.

Lots of character on this album. I never woulda thought I would like a song like Charlie's Army at 22 years old, but they just play the role so well.

yeah Charlie's Army is a banger too. Only one here I'm not overly crazy about is Boy Blue. Not bad, but kinda forgettable. Tellin Lies, Your Wild Years, and title track have got to be some of my favorite punk/pop-punk songs of all time

and lookers
boy blue probably is the worst on the album, and it's precisely because it has no character, no interesting setting for the song to take place.
