Really, really enjoy this album. A breath of fresh air in the tech-death scene, a scene which generally sucks balls.

As time goes on, I think this is becoming a new industry standard in my opinion. I love fast-paced tech assaults, but the progressive edge is being lost--an error not committed here. Songs explore rather than follow seemingly linear paths were speed is the only option.

To be fair, I meant it in the sense that these guys literally make upbeat, hopeful music. I mean, those solos. Most other bands just do oodles of noodles just wanking off their guitars, but these guys seem to have an intention to stand out. And in my opinion they've achieved that goal by creating an outstanding album. But I never listen to tech-death so fuck if I know.

Oh I wasn't responding directly to you, just making an unrelated point. Though as time goes on i find myself agreeing with that sentiment. I think I'm nearing the end of my tolerance for shred-heavy tech, it's losing progressive tendencies.

Don't think they've had the time, they've been maintaining a consistent tour schedule ever since this debuted. Got a big one this year with Bloodshot Dawn.

I agree with all you guys. On this album the technical playing facilitates the songwriting and the experience. It all feels very purposeful. That's the kind of thing that drew me to the genre in the first place (even though I am a guitar nerd so that helps too).
And yea they have that big tour with Bloodshot Dawn right now and then coming right up in May they are coming back to do a huge US tour with Archspire, Inferi, and Wormhole. It's pretty rare for a European tech death band with only one album to do two separate US tours, but this will be the second time I see them. Pretty stoked.

Hey Dimorphic I saw your soundoff. Did you find anything you would consider at all similar to this?

Na, dude, unfortunately not. To be honest I didn't perform the greatest search in the world - was kinda just lazily hoping someone would point me in the right direction, but to no avail. I don't really listen to much tech-death either. Probably the closest thing I could think of right now (very early morning, not quite woken up yet) would be Irreversible Mechanism but they're not quite the same as good.

Yea finding a band like this is pretty hard. The one I know that seems the most appropriate to recommend is Fractal Universe. Their debut LP Engram of Decline has some really amazing material on it, and their second album is coming out next month.

Just saw these guys live with Wormhole, Inferi, and Archspire. It really is starting to feel like this is the best tech death album of all time. Certainly in the running.
